I think it might be time for Mrs F to retire from blogland. She came for one reason and then stayed for another but those reasons have ended, and she does not blog these days, but she asks Queenie to keep an eye on her blog and delete all the spam and stuff, but Queenie is going to be around less in future and doesn't have time, so maybe it is time for her to pack up her soup cauldron and leave. She shares admin rights for Ceridwen's cauldron with Shipscook so that is another complexity. There are some good memories on there and deleting them is hard, there are recipes she would like to salvage, and some photos which she does not have anywhere else as they were on the hard drive of our old computer or have been deleted and I need to figure out a way of transferring them into the hard drive of our computer but it is very difficult to do so, she will remain for a few days while she tries to figure it out.

Soup Dragon

Now Mr S has the sneezles as well.

So I went to see my very good friend Queene Mab this morning (those of you on my friends list may know I am a bit of a soup dragon and have some good recipes for fighting colds).

Here is one of her recipes, so I may make it this evening if Mr S remembers to get the ingredients.

Fry up a chopped red onion, I chopped red chili, I small chopped potato, two very thinly sliced medium sized mushrooms with garlic, mustard seeds and onion seeds and 2 teaspoons of paprika and a pinch of asafoetida to kill all that nasty cold/flu virus.

I like to add a pint of stock, a glass of white wine and a couple of bayleaves, a teaspoon of dried lime powder and a handful each of dried red and green lentils and a tin of tomato puree and a twist of black pepper. Some fine green Kenyan beans chopped into inch long pieces and chopped courgette if available and either a mini red cabbage shredded or a mini cauliflower if there are any.

And let it boil away for half an hour and then add a handful of the tiny shell pasta.

It is delicious medicine and will go very nicely with some crusty french bread and some cheese, I recall there is a nice smelly camembert festering in the fridge which we bought in the farmers market for a start.

Now I am off enjoy some OCDs while I am sneezed on by complete strangers on the tube who have no social skills and do not cover their faces when they cough and sneeze.

having two blogs. I started the second Queenie cos I had trouble accessing the Magic Theatre for a while as Mrs F had locked me out (stoppy mare). I am keeping them both because I am fond of them no other reason and cannot bear to kill either of these ladies off.

BUT I keep forgetting which one I am in and find myself answering people who have answered one blog in the name of the other blog.

Clearly I am too stupid and badly organised to cope with having two. Lucky one of them is not a secret identity. I would make a hopeless spy.

Oh well.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Well we were out quite late last night in that there fancy London. No we were not rioting about Boris's alcohol ban http://uk.news.yahoo.com/afp/20080601/tod-lifestyle-britain-transport-offbeat-6058bda.html, we were celebrating my new job by doing a riverside and Fleet Street pub crawl ending with a fabulous Tapas Meal orgainsed by Nick at Navarros in Charlotte Street ( I might blog the piccies if we ever get our internet back) on a reconnaissance mission so I would know where to go on Monday Monrning and how to get there. We got back just before midnight but then there were Vampire movies to be watched and vodka to be drunk.

Anyway, I am rambling the point which is that it is the Farmers market today, so we started the day off right with some ostrich steak in burger buns and a nice strong coffeee. We had that quite late so Mr S has only just cooked an amazing lunch using some smoked duck breast which I purchased in the farmers market, some single cream, fressh basil, onions and mushrooms and linguine with a tomato, snap pea and coriander salad on the side served with a choice of white wine which has had peaches marinading in it all morning or some Heck's cider ~~or both~~ and so now it is time to have a nap in front of the telly for a few hours.

BUT before I go off to do that, maybe I have to confess to buying some Biltong today in the farmer's market from Wobbly Bottom the excellent goats cheese vendor. Seems like they make their own. Yum! Mmmmmmmmmm, Biltong will make a good and tasty late night snack next weekend I am thinking.

Time for 40 winks now.

To try and make some home made hummous tonight.

I blended some chick peas with garlic, paprika, ground jeera (cumin), olive oil, toasted sesame oil, a little salt, a birds eye chili and some fresh lime juice. It was not as good as the delicious dragon's breath hummous he made, but it was quite nice although the colour was rusty rather than tawny and I am going to try again sometime soon maybe using lemon juice rather than lime and maybe some chopped coriander, Oh and maybe some pine nuts.

In other news I am getting Mab and Mrs F all tangled up. Oh well it will take me a while to figure it out I suppose.

Now I don't have to drive till lunchtime tomorrow, so maybe I COULD have that second glass of wine.

This morning as Mr S has a meeting to go to.

I do not see the sunsrises so well now as the leaves are on the trees. What I could see of this mornings was a hazt peach colour.

The Chestnut tree looks beautiful with the flowers out but the pollen from them it is playing havoc with my hayfever.

I am glad it is Friday today even though it has been a short week.

Some nice chilled wine this evening, but what to eat though, had smoked mackeral salad last night.

Going to have a picnic with Mr S, Sarah and Nick tomorrow if the weather holds.

Looking forward to the Greenwich meet in the evening.

Wild impulses

These are Icelandic poppies apparently. I think they count as "wild flowers".

On impulse I bought a single plant about 10 years ago to put in a corner of the garden where nothing seems to want to grow. The guy in the garden centre told me that if they like it they'll take off. My Mum advised me that they'll grow like weeds and totally take over.

Seems as if they like it here then.

I am giving up on blog for now until the problems are sorted out.

Several of my friends have mentioned difficulties viewing my blog. I have now started experiencing difficulties viewing it myself and can only see posts if I go in from a comment received via an email. Can you explain this please and is there anything that can be done to put this right as it has been going on for over a week and is most annoying..

Some of my team are going on about the earthquake last night, normally I notice such things, I remember one about 5 years back in the middle of the night it scared the hell out of me, but I honestly didn't feel a thing. Did anyone else? It was in Lincolnshire which is miles away.
